Who We Are Looking For
IAP2 Canada is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and values-driven leader to serve as our next Executive Director (ED). We need someone who is passionate about public participation, community engagement, and governance and who thrives in a fully remote, collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and culture-builder, with a strong track record in nonprofit leadership, business development, and operational management. They will be responsible for strengthening organizational sustainability, enhancing member engagement, and driving the long-term vision of IAP2 Canada.

Location: Remote (Canada)

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Create and lead the implementation of IAP2 Canada’s long-term strategic plan in alignment with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Establish a strong, collaborative remote work culture that engages and motivates staff, board members, volunteers, and regional chapters.
  • Build a sustainable business model that balances membership growth, training revenue, and partnerships to ensure financial stability.
  • Represent IAP2 Canada on a national and global scale, building relationships with government, corporate, nonprofit, and academic partners.
2. Financial Management & Business Development
  • Oversee financial strategy, budget planning, and revenue generation, ensuring long-term sustainability.
  • Diversify funding streams through partnerships, sponsorships, and innovative program development.
  • Work closely with the Board to ensure transparent financial oversight and strong fiscal management.
3. Membership & Partner Engagement
  • Develop and execute a membership engagement strategy that increases value for current members and attracts new professionals.
  • Strengthen relationships with regional chapters, industry partners, and IAP2 International.
  • Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles are embedded across all membership services and programs.
  • Build relationships with national Indigenous organizations and/or communities to support the development of new programming
4. Program & Training Development
  • Oversee the expansion and quality assurance of IAP2 Canada’s training programs and certification offerings.
  • Support the development of online and hybrid learning opportunities to extend IAP2 Canada’s reach.
  • Ensure IAP2 Canada remains a trusted leader in public participation education and advocacy.
5. Governance & Board Relations
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and committees to strengthen governance structures and align board priorities with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular, transparent updates on organizational performance, finances, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead a shift from a “working board” to a governance-focused board by clarifying roles and streamlining decision-making processes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Senior leadership experience (5+ years) in a nonprofit, association, or mission-driven organization.
  • Proven track record in organizational growth, business development, and financial sustainability.
  • Strong virtual team leadership and remote work management skills—experience building a strong internal culture in a remote setting is essential.
  • Knowledge of public participation, governance, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated values alignment with IAP2’s core mission, including inclusivity, transparency, and participatory decision-making.
  • Expertise in membership engagement, stakeholder relations, and partnership development.
  • Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue diversification.
  • Ability to lead through change and organizational transitions, fostering a positive and stable environment.
Considered an Asset:
  • Experience managing membership-based organizations or associations.
  • Familiarity with IAP2 training, certification programs, or similar public engagement models.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
  • Experience in digital transformation and online learning program development.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience,locationand qualifications for therole. 
  • 2025 range is $100,000 - $122,000 CAD plus incentive plan.
  • Comprehensive Health & Benefit plan.
